Tampers - Harsco Track Technologies designs and manufactures a wide range of tamping machines for production tamping. |

The Stoneblower is a revolutionary machine developed specifically as an alternative to traditional tamping methods for the restoration of track's vertical and lateral alignment. The machine utilizes a process which pneumatically injects ballast under the tie to achieve track positioning to an accuracy of 1.0 mm without disturbing the pre-existing compacted foundation. The result is a smooth track surface which is immediately available for unrestricted line speeds.
The Stoneblower is the culmination of many years of research and development by Harsco Track Technologies in cooperation with Railtrack plc (UK) and British Rail Research (AEA plc). The machine has undergone extensive testing to meet demanding requirements and has demonstrated the ability to significantly extend the time required between track maintenance cycles. |

Model 6700 Production Switch Tamper from Harsco Track Technologies is capable of raising, aligning and tamping up to 2,500 feet of track per hour. Automatic clamping of either the base or ball of rail produces superior performance in switches. The cab design allows excellent visibility during work and track travel modes. An advanced computer control system enables the operator to produce superior track quality. |
Model 900 Utility Tamper: The small, powerful Model 900 Utility Tamper is ideal for crossings, industrial tracks and any other tamping project that doesn't require a high production machine. Although it is compact, it has more than enough power to give high quality results and it's rugged enough to operate week after week with little maintenance. With four hydraulic motors supplying more concentrated power than many larger machines, the 900 uses vibratory tilt-squeeze action to tamp blast directly under the rail where the load is carried. One of the 900's greatest assets is simplicity. Almost anyone can be easily trained to operate it. The layout and accessibility of its components make it simple to maintain and repair. Repairs can usually be made right at the job site. When it's time to move the 900 from one project to another it is light enough (5 tons/4.5 tonnes) and narrow enough (8'/2.4m) to transport on highways without special permits. This tough versatile tamper is not only economical to buy it is economical to operate. |

Model 2400 Utility Tamper: The compact powerful 2400 is a superb all-around utility tamper that is ideal for close quarters work such as switches and crossovers. The simple mechanics and rugged construction assure long, steady performance with little maintenance. Because of the simplicity of its hydraulic vibratory motors and workhead operation, trouble shooting is easy. Repairs can be made quickly on the job and downtime is negligible. The versatile 2400 features transverse sliding workheads, cross tamping with positive squeeze, economical all-hydraulic operation and optional light beam surface and/or line reference. Tamping power comes from four hydraulic vibrators, two per side, each powering dual tamping tools-a total of 16 tamping blades per machine. The 2400 will give you performance, reliability and economy. That's why short lines and contractors in particular like it.

Model STM-XLC: The STM-XLC is a tool switch tamper ideally suited for production work, spot tamping, tie gangs, branch lines, and new construction operations. The unit features Harsco Track /Technologies' time proven vibratory squeeze type workheads driven by hydraulic motors and traversing workheads that tamp 100% of the switch area, providing uniform compaction under each tie and under the load-bearing surface of the switch. Equipped with lifting, leveling and lining devices, The STM-XLC surfaces and aligns both tangent and curved track. Track lifting is accomplished by two shoulder jacks. The jacks take support from the ballast shoulder of the track and construction type lifts up to 8" are possible. Surfacing and lining are accomplished using an infrared light beam. Leveling and lining are performed during the tamping cycle. The STM-XLC: Versatile, efficient, and economical to operate and maintain. |
Model 3000: For switches, crossovers or production tamping and lining, the 3000 utility and spot tamper delivers exceptional tamping quality and accuracy. Compact yet powerful, the 3000 is equipped with the same high performance, heavy-duty workheads as our premium 6700 tamper. The benefit to you: outstanding reliability and productivity. Just as important, the 300's economic hydraulic design greatly simplifies maintenance procedures and makes trouble shooting routine. And that helps keep downtime to a minimum. The 3000 is a superb all-around performer. Its rugged, hydraulic design makes it economical to purchase, operate and maintain. |
